Take CareSM President/CEO Notes Alignment with Outlined Attributes; Cites Early Influence of American Academy of Family Physicians in Shaping Company's Service Offering

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA (JANUARY 10, 2006) — Take Care Health SystemsSM, a leading operator in the emerging retail-based health care centers, announced today that the company wholeheartedly supports the "Desired Attributes of Retail Health Clinics" identified by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) as important to patient care offered by retail health clinics and as the foundation on which its clinics are built.

The company also noted that Take Care's guiding principles are fully aligned with the desired attributes, which the AAFP Board of Directors approved to provide guidance for its physician membership on whether to work collaboratively with various health care centers, now existing in over a dozen states and expanding nationally.

"We cannot say enough about the AAFP's commitment to understanding this emerging care model and their efforts to contribute to shaping quality and accessibility within this delivery system," said Peter Miller, President/CEO and co-founder of Take Care. The AAFP's desired attributes of retail health clinics were distributed this past month to constituent chapters and members:

Miller added, "We have held several discussions with the AAFP for the past year, and approached them to incorporate their feedback into our commitment to providing high quality patient centered care in an accessible manner, making sure that our model of care was integrated into the broader health care provider marketplace."

Michael Fleming, former Board Chair of the AAFP and a family physician, commented, "The desired ideals as outlined by the AAFP have been integrated into Take Care's mission and vision from the very beginning of the company's inception. Retail health care's well-defined scope and local ties to traditional healthcare will make a positive difference in the communities they serve. I believe that Take Care shares the same values and objectives as the AAFP and arrived at these same tenets of their own volition." Dr. Fleming joined Take Care's National Medical Advisory Board in January 2006 after his term as Board Chair of the AAFP expired last year.

Take Care Health CentersSM are professional, high quality family health care clinics with two private exam rooms, located within retail pharmacies. At the core of Take Care's philosophy of high quality, compassionate patient care, is the Take Care Nurse Practitioner. Take Care's family NP's utilize sophisticated medical software to follow clear clinical protocols based on guidelines established by the medical community to diagnose, treat, and write commonly used prescriptions for standard family illnesses in each Care Center. Illnesses treated by Take Care Nurse Practitioners include strep throat; eye, ear and sinus infections; seasonal allergies; poison ivy and other skin rashes; insect bites and urinary tract infections. Beyond treatment of common ailments, Take Care Health Centers provide diagnostic screenings for conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Vaccinations to be offered in early 2006 include those for tetanus, influenza and meningitis. Take Care Health Centers treat patients over the age of 24 months and no appointments are necessary.

Take Care operates through an integrated, team-based approach with the medical communities in the markets where they operate, to maintain optimal referral networks and integration of patient care.

To date, nineteen Take Care Health Centers are open in the Portland, Oregon and the Greater Kansas City area. Next on the horizon for Take Care will be an East Coast expansion with Brooks-Eckerd in cities to be announced in the first quarter of 2006. Take Care's goal is to open upwards of 1400 centers in 70 markets by the end of 2008 with leading pharmacy retail chains Rite Aid, Osco Drug and Brooks Eckerd Pharmacies. In doing so, the company believes it can truly make a difference in the lives of consumers by being five to ten minutes from where most Americans live or work.

"We see these tenets as a positive step for the industry, and we hope others emerging in this space will join us in support of the AAFP," said Miller. "Working together, we believe that we can make great strides to improve patient care for all Americans."
