CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — May 20, 2009 — With summer just around the corner, Take Care Health Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Walgreens (NYSE, NASDAQ: WAG) and the largest and most comprehensive provider of convenient care clinics and worksite health and wellness centers in the country, is now offering camp and sports physicals at Take Care Clinics, located at select Walgreens drugstores throughout the nation. The physicals are administered by nationally certified Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and are available for only $30 through September.

“Camp and sports physicals are a valuable opportunity to screen patients for undetected health care conditions, as well as a means to ensure the overall health and wellness of children,” said Sandra Ryan, RN, MSN, CPNP and Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer for Take Care Health Systems. “They also give parents a chance to ask questions and voice concerns to a qualified health care provider about any health conditions or unusual behavior they’re seeing from their child. While these physicals may be considered ‘routine’, they’re important exams that offer health care providers an opportunity to counsel patients and their parents on the importance of year-round health care maintenance.”

Take Care Clinics are professional walk-in health care centers open seven days a week, with extended evening and weekend hours, giving patients the option to access high-quality, health care services, such as sport and camp physicals, when it’s convenient for them. Take Care Health Providers treat patients 18 months and older and can also ensure that a patient’s immunizations are up-to-date and administer appropriate vaccinations for school-aged children, such as Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), Menactra (Meningitis), Varicella (Chicken Pox), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and GARDASIL® (HPV). It is recommended that patients bring a copy of their vaccination record, as well as a copy of their medical history to the Take Care Clinic, in order to receive a camp or sports physical.

“Camp and sport physicals are a great opportunity for Take Care Clinics to offer an important health service to the communities where we operate,” said Peter Miller, president and CEO of Take Care Health Systems. “The start to summer and end of the school year is a busy time for parents and we are pleased to provide a convenient, quality and affordable option to ensure children have completed all of their necessary physical exam requirements.”

Camp and sports physicals at a Take Care Clinic do not take the place of a child’s yearly health exam and complete developmental assessment. Take Care Health Providers encourage all patients to have a primary care provider or pediatrician who can facilitate this longer-term relationship and care. Patients are referred to a primary care provider if they do not have one. Visit records will be shared with a patient’s provider if requested and all patients will be given a copy of their visit record to share with other providers.

High school and middle school level, pre-participation sports physicals are not available at Take Care Clinics in Kansas.

Tips for a Healthy Summer
Sport and camp physicals can be one part of the start to a safe and healthy summer. Take Care Clinics are also offering a set of tips for parents to serve as a friendly reminder that a few simple steps can help prevent many outdoor health risks.

“We understand that summer is a time to be outside, soaking up the warm weather, but following these tips, such as drinking plenty of water and applying sunblock with UVA and UVB protection, can lead to a more enjoyable time and keep a family healthy and safe,” said Ryan.

The tips include:

Avoid Heat Stress and Heat Stroke

Avoid Insect and Tick Bites

Avoid Sunburn

Have Fun, and Play Safe
