Take Care Health Centers now accepting all plans from BCBSKC, the largest health insurer in Kansas City; Plan members now only need to pay a co-pay when visiting the newly opened in-store health clinics in the metro area.

KANSAS CITY, (JANUARY 4, 2006) — Take Care Health SystemsSM announced today that their nine Take Care Health Center locations in the greater Kansas City area have begun accepting Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (BCBSKC) insurance plans. This announcement means that local residents who have BCBSKC coverage will now only need to pay their co-pay when visiting any Take Care Health Center in greater Kansas City.

All BCBSKC plan members are eligible. All BCBSKC plans now being accepted at area Take Care Health Centers:

  • Blue-Advantage
  • Blue-Advantage Plus
  • Blue-Care
  • Preferred-Care
  • Preferred-Care Blue

Take Care Health Centers also accept the following insurance plans:

  • Medicare (Traditional/Part B)
  • Freedom Network
  • Freedom Network Select
  • BCBS Blue Card
  • BCBS Federal Employee Program

Here's how it works when a patient visits Take CareSM: If insured by a BCBSKC plan, Medicare (Traditional/Part B), Freedom Network or Freedom Network Select, patients will owe the cost of their co-pay at the time of their treatment. If a patient is uninsured or is insured by a plan not currently in the Company's network, the full price of the visit is requested at the time of treatment (price average $48-$68). Patients will receive a receipt that they may be able to submit to their insurance company or to track for tax purposes. Take Care Health Centers accept cash, credit and debit cards, but no personal checks.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City is the largest health insurer in the metro area and the only not-for-profit commercial health insurer in Kansas City, covering more than 880,000 residents in 32 counties in the greater Kansas City area and Northwest Missouri. This agreement means that coverage holders seeking treatment for common ailments at Take Care Health Centers will simply pay their co-pay. "The goal of Take Care is to provide patients with a health care experience that is convenient, high-quality, elegant, and affordable," said Peter Miller, President and CEO of Take Care. "Our relationship with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Kansas City's leading insurance provider, demonstrates that Take Care is truly a valuable option for everyone — the insured and uninsured alike. You can expect more announcements of relationships with local insurers in the near-term."
